A young woman who works tirelessly to help animals in her neighborhood heard a cat screaming at the construction site of a building. “She happened to be in the right place at the right time,” Little Wanderers NYC shared.

As she approached the corner where the construction material was stored, she saw a tabby cat sitting on a stack of pavers, meowing at the top of his lungs.

When the cat noticed the young woman, he stopped wailing and turned towards her.

He emerged from the storage area and rubbed his face against the woman’s outstretched hand as if starved of love.

The big-boned tomcat was an instant love bug. He plopped down on the hard pavement with a soft thud. As he flipped onto his side, his paws paddled blissfully in the air.

“We don’t know (what happened to him), but we do know he couldn’t stay where he was.”

After contacting her local rescue, Little Wanderers NYC, the young woman scooped the sweet, gentle giant into her arms and brought him home for the night.

“He has a mighty heart and a wonderful personality, but he definitely did not belong outside wandering the street.”

Goliath, the cat, wolfed down a whole bowl of food like there was no tomorrow. Once his belly was filled to the brim, he rolled across the floor like a tumbleweed, and his waves of purrs permeated the room.

“Despite his rugged beginnings on the streets of the Bronx, this gentle giant has a heart of gold.”

Goliath went to the vet the next day with his new foster mom. He strutted around the place like he owned it and greeted the staff like they were his old pals. “I have never seen a cat be so comfortable with so many new people so fast,” his foster mom said.

The vet had a hard time hearing his heartbeat because his sonorous purr drowned out other sounds.

Goliath had likely lived in a home before becoming a stray. He didn’t have a microchip, and no one came to claim him. “He is ready to settle into that lifestyle again. Goliath has transitioned seamlessly into indoor life, constantly rolling to show you his belly and playing with an assortment of toys.”

He inspected every nook and cranny of his foster home and discovered his favorite feline entertainment out the window. After a house tour, he plopped down on the clean floor and stretched into a long, relaxed form before drifting off to sleep.

Goliath trails his foster carers everywhere around the house, and his purr constantly rumbles from his chest.

He follows them to the bedroom, into the kitchen and watches as they wash up in the bathroom.

“He’s already won their hearts with his chunky build and sweet and affectionate personality, napping in bed and making lots of biscuits.”

No more cold nights or empty stomaches for this sweet boy as Goliath enjoys his luxurious naps with his people between snacks and play.
